Balaclava in wool fleece with wool and silk lining. Thick yet light wool fleece in 100% organic, untreated merino wool. Double wool fleece at the ears with wind protection in 100% organic cotton in between. Untreated wool keeps warm particularly well and feels especially soft against the skin, as it both insulates and wicks moisture away from the skin. Wool fleece has very good insulating ability, as the brushed wool fibres retain heat particularly well. Wool is flame-resistant and therefore not flammable. Untreated wool keeps warm better than all other textile fibres, as it insulates and wicks moisture away from the skin so that the child does not become cold. Wool insulates because its crimped fibres trap air, and because wool can become damp and wet without losing its insulating ability. Wool fleece is wool fibres that have been brushed up and therefore trap even more air, giving extra insulation. The fibre structure and lanolin content make untreated wool bacteria-inhibiting, and also make stains easy to wipe off. Often a few hours of airing is enough to remove odour.
